Position Description

This is a Non-Civil Service position with Metropolitan Action Commission.  The position is under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager and performs duties as instructed to insure the cleanliness of all Metropolitan Action Commission property – indoor and outside

Work Hours: Monday - Friday (10:00 A.M.- 6:30 P.M.) 

Typical Duties

  • Perform preventive maintenance work 
  • Assist in all cleaning functions 
  • Knowledge of custodial methods, materials and tools 
  • Attend meetings and complete required training 
  • Demonstrate positive and professional work habits 
  • Assist with other position related duties as requested by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of an eighth-grade education
  • One (01) year experience in custodial work
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds
  • Teamwork experience
  • Valid "Class D" Tennessee Driver's License
Per Metro Ordinance No. SO94-1078.  All employees of the Metropolitan Government shall be residents of the State of Tennessee or become residents of the state within six (6) months of employment as a prerequisite to employment with the Metropolitan Government.

Metro offers a generous core benefit package to eligible employees who are regularly and consistently working 20 or more hours per week.  Insurance and benefit coverage is effective the first of the month after the employee has worked 30 days.  Employees can change their benefits within 60 days of an eligible change in status or during Annual Enrollment.  Metro also offers optional benefits from which the employee may choose.
