Maintenance Tech I -   $28,639
Maintenance Tech II -  $33,803

 
The Department of Transportation consists of three sections: Intermodal Operations; Capital Program Delivery; and Traffic Engineering, Operations and Maintenance.  The Department maintains an infrastructure system that includes more than 2,500 miles of road, over 700 signalized intersections, thousands of miles of traffic striping, the Gwinnett County Transit System and one of the four busiest airports in Georgia. The Department performs this mission with 155 approved full-time positions and a 2018 adopted operating budget of $44.5 million in multiple funds.
 
The Department has Maintenance Tech vacancies in the Traffic Operations and Road Maintenance section.  The primary goal of the Traffic Operations and Road Maintenance Division is to maintain the roads and right of ways in Gwinnett County to ensure safe driving conditions for the public works infrastructure.

This position may be a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace.

The Grade for this position is:
Maintenance Tech I  - A12(3)
Maintenance Tech II - B21(3)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Maintenance Technician I:
  • Completion of coursework up through the eighth grade;
  • or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job;
  • Driver's license from state of residence
Maintenance Technician II:
  • Completion of coursework up through the eighth grade;
  • One year of related public works maintenance experience;
  • or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job;
  • Commercial Driver's License;
  • Road Flagging Certificate
