Essential Job Functions

Objective: To serve the visitors of the Pasco County Office of Tourism Development by providing timely, accurate information in a professional, unbiased manner.
 
Duties: Telephone, Mail, Email, Face-to-Face Customer Service, Other
 
Telephone: Answer phones promptly and courteously. Record calls. Respond to voice mail messages. Update lodging availability.
 
Visitor Center: Keep Visitor Center stocked.  Contact hotels, attractions, chambers of commerce, event organizations and other partners, and request for additional brochures/magazines/maps.
 
Mail: Assemble visitor information packets. Print labels from database and affix them to pre-assembled visitor information packets. Print labels, sort, separate and bundle and transport bulk mailings of visitor information packets to mailroom.
 
Email: Download and respond to email messages on a daily basis.
 
Face-to-Face Customer Service: Greet visitors, respond to questions and offer suggestions as well as give directions in a professional and unbiased manner. Assist in stocking and arranging brochures and other printed material at the visitor center.
 
Other Duties: Assist in tracking phone, email, postal and visitor data. Assist staff with projects.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Qualifications:

  • Should have great communication skills: written and verbal communication
  • Should have a lot of patience when communicating with the customer
  • Should be able to maintain their composure even if the customer is being rude
  • Should have good listening skills, since most of the time, communication with the customers is done over the phone
  • Should be attentive to detailing

Minimum Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Basic computer skills
  • The minimum age for volunteers/volunteer interns is 16 years old.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
 
Dress Code: Business Casual/Professional

Additional release forms and background check authorizations may be required prior to the first day of volunteer activities.

Benefits include Florida Retirement System (FRS) retirement plan, annual leave, sick leave, paid holidays, group insurance, tuition reimbursement, deferred compensation, medical leave pool, annual medical leave buy-back. Mid-management/Professional grade, and management personnel may receive 40 hours of admin leave per calendar year.  

Effective July 1, 2011, FRS members must contribute 3% of their salary as retirement contributions, on a pre-tax basis (the salary is reduced by the amount of the employee contribution before determining the federal income tax deduction). The employer will automatically deduct the employee contributions.
