The Position
Bargaining Unit: Local 856 - Health Services Unit
The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is accepting applications on an ongoing basis to fill entry level Clinical Laboratory Scientist positions which may be assigned to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center in Martinez or health centers located in Richmond or Pittsburg.
Clinical Laboratory Scientist I is an entry-level classification. Employees in this class perform bacteriological, hematological, biochemical, serological, coagulation and transfusion tests. They also perform blood counts and prepare stains, reagents, and stock solutions.Minimum Qualifications
License Required: Possession of a valid license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist issued by the California State Department of Health Services is required. (To be considered for this recruitment, applicants must submit and attach the required license)
Experience: None required.
Other Requirements:A background investigation/fingerprint and/or physical exam may be required prior to the start of employment.

2. Application Evaluation: Depending on the number of applications received, an Application Evaluation Board may be convened to evaluate and select the best-qualified candidates for invitation to the next phase of the examination.
3. Examination: The examination will consist of an evaluation of each candidate's relevant education, training and/or experience as presented on the application and supplemental questionnaire. Candidates must receive a rating of at least 70% from a majority of the Board members to be ranked on the employment list. (Weighted 100%)
The Human Resources Department may change the examination steps noted above in accordance with the Personnel Management Regulations and accepted selection practices.
