Hennepin County Diversity PolicyThe Hennepin County Adult Corrections Facility (ACF) is looking for a driver to transport residents to and from various locations throughout Hennepin County, with secondary food service worker duties.
The ACF) located in Plymouth, MN, is a confinement center for adult offenders committed by the courts to serve a maximum sentence of one year. ACF staff promote public safety and provide for victim restoration by holding offenders accountable and by providing opportunities for change through assessment and supervision.
We are seeking candidates who share our mission: To operate a safe, secure and efficient facility reducing the risk of re-offense.
This position is a non-permanent, on-call position with no set hours or benefits. Hours vary between Monday through Friday, 5:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturday and Sunday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Flexibility is essential as these hours will be modified with relatively short notice based upon operational need. On-call may also include weekends and holidays.
You must be 21 years of age or older to work at this facility. There is no bus service to this facility.
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include:- Drive residents who participate in the Private Sector Work Program to and from their designated job sites.
- Drive residents to and from treatments/appointments.
- Provide bank deposit service to five separate ACF operations.
- Pick up and deliver interoffice mail within the ACF and at the U.S. Post Office.
- Provide support to the motor pool by monitoring vehicles for routine service and transporting these vehicles to the Hennepin County Central Mobile Equipment Division in Medina, MN for service and/or repairs.
- May deliver laundry to the County Home School in Minnetonka, MN and food/laundry to the Juvenile Detention Center in downtown Minneapolis.
- Assist kitchen staff with food preparation.
- Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services.
Best Qualified Candidates will have:- A valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record and no more than two moving violations within the last three years of licensure.
- Skill in the operation and care of passenger and/or delivery vehicles including 14 ft cube delivery truck.
- Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English; learn routes and read maps; deal courteously with others.
- Willingness to work alongside residents.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Previous food service and or delivery experience in a prison, detention center, hospital, college or military setting.
- Basic knowledge and skill in using a computer to access and enter data.
- Ability to manage problems and resolve conflicts using tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work effectively with an increasingly diverse client population.
