Purpose of Announcement

EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO ESTABLISH AN EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL TWO (2) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCIES IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JEFFERSON COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAMS AND FOR FUTURE EAST AND WEST JEFFERSON VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.
 

Kind of Work

The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve all food as assigned by the Food Service Manager (or Cook II in absence of Food Service Manager) in compliance with sanitation procedures. Employee maintains the kitchen work area, pantry, cafeteria, and equipment in a clean, orderly, and sanitary manner.  Works with Cook II to maintain inventory of foods and supplies as well as wash and clean all utensils and equipment used in food preparation. Assists Cook II with maintaining daily records. Employee complies with all agency policies and Head Start Performance Standards as well as all licensing and sanitation requirements relating to Food Service. Employee will be required to report to different Head Start locations parish wide on an as needed basis. 

Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination

JEFFERSON PARISH RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED FOR THOSE COMPETING ON AN ENTRANCE BASIS.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have successful experience in food handling and preparation, indicating the ability to cook on a large scale and operate standard kitchen equipment.
 
Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (Louisiana R.S. 15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application.
