Purpose of Announcement
EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO SUPPLEMENT THE EXISTING EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL TWO (2) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCIES IN THE SEWERAGE DEPARTMENT.
This employment list will also be used for FUTURE East & West Jefferson vacancies in the Department of Sewerage.
Kind of Work
- Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to perform inspections and routine mechanical maintenance at sewerage lift and pumping stations on an assigned route of the Parish. Employees in this classification are responsible for inspecting equipment operating conditions, adjusting settings and conditions, and performing minor maintenance to ensure uninterrupted flow of Parish sewerage operations. Performs other related work as required. This position is also an essential, emergency duty status worker and may not be relieved of duty when the Parish President or his designee recommends a voluntary or mandatory evacuation of Jefferson Parish. Position requires driving of a Parish vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record will be given preference.
Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination
Applicants must meet one (1) of the following:
1. Possession of a high school diploma, equivalency certificate, or completion of a vocational trade school (not limited to short specified courses);
2. Current employment and permanent civil service status with Jefferson Parish; PLUS, at least six (6) months of verifiable experience involving the maintenance of a sewer lift station.Kind of Examination

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof.
