Description of Duties/Essential Functions
Under general supervision, performs nursing assistance and personal care services for patients with physical and/or mental impairments. Assistance typically includes physical care, activities of daily living, patient feeding, bathing, personal hygiene care, ambulation, transfer of residents, and dressing needs. Practices effective infection control inclusive of isolation techniques and procedures, antiseptic techniques, handwashing, and universal precautions, wound care, and disinfection procedures. Continually inspects and checks residents to ensure comfort and safety for the residents of the home. Assists patient with range of motion exercises and exercises on pulleys and rollers. Moves and transports patients in beds, wheelchairs, stretchers and lifts, using proper lifting techniques. Completes assigned documentation. Observes and reports changes in patient behavior and/or physical appearance to nurse. Performs routine cleaning of patient units, including changing sheets, cleaning beds, cleaning patient care equipment, and maintaining general sanitation of all nursing areas.
Minimum Requirements
Requires successful completion of the 120 hour Illinois Dept. of Public Health approved Basic Nursing Assistant Training Program as evidenced by a certificate embossed as an approved educational program by IDPH or the equivalent as determined by IDPH and evidenced by a letter verifying current inclusion on the Assistant Nurse Registry maintained by the IDPH.
