Description

Under limited supervision, performs specialized skilled work as related to Brunswick County water treatment facilities and related appurtenances.  Coordinates the work of plant operations and maintenance personnel involved in the operation and maintenance of the County's water treatment facilities.  Work also involves assistance with safety procedures, standard operating procedures, and coordinating training required for operations and maintenance personnel. Responsible for delegating after-hours emergencies and repairs to the water treatment plant. Responsible for assisting in the preparation of a variety of reports and maintaining records related to treatment plant operations.  Must exercise initiative and independent judgment in completing assignments.  Performs other duties as required.  Reports to the Water Resources Superintendent.
 

Qualifications

Graduation from high school or GED; seven (7) years' experience in a water treatment facility, four (4) years of which must be in a facility with the equivalent classification for which the employee is applying for; or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.  Possession of a Grade A Surface or Grade A Well Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate (relevant for the facility applied), a Grade I Maintenance Technologist Certification as issued by NC-AWWA or the ability to attain certification within the probationary period. Preferred qualifications include a Physical Chemical Grade I or Bacteriological Certification issued by the State of North Carolina.  Must have a Valid Drivers License.
