Nature of Work
- Limited administrative work, relieving a management official of various administrative details which may include, but is not limited to: fiscal, personnel, legislation, accounting, record keeping, special projects, grants, contracts and other management areas.
Work involves the studying of routine administrative problems and development of procedures designed to improve efficiency. Employee may serve as a supervisor, staff assistant and/or public contact employee or perform a combination of these activities in accordance with set policies and guidelines. Supervisory responsibilities may include overseeing the activities of a small group of subordinate employees engaged in a variety of support or operational activities. Supervision is received through general and specific work assignments; employee is allowed latitude for independent judgment, usually following established methods and procedures. Essential Functions
- May supervise others engaged in performing fiscal, personnel, legislation, accounting, record keeping, special projects, grants, contracts or related support or operational type duties.
Within guidelines set by supervisor, establishes procedures in handling administrative details.
Administers an operational program within the guidelines set by ordinance or other legislative actions.
In accordance with detailed instructions, may serve as supervisor's representative at meetings and on committees.
May serve as liaison between supervisor and other departments or division's; supervises and assists subordinates in routine public contract work.
Assists with the preparation and administration of the annual budget for a department.
Compiles data for and prepares monthly, annual and special reports.
Performs related research work and participates in specialized projects.
Performs other related work as required. Minimum Requirements
A minimum of 60 college credits and some (6 months – 2 years) experience in a variety of responsible, administrative assignments, preferably in the public sector.
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent.
