PARTS CLERK11

This is a seasonal position for a period less than 5 months for the current fiscal budget year. Under the direct supervision of the Sanitation Superintendent and his assistant. This is an entry level position involved in the collection and disposal of commercial and residential refuse. This position work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays.

• Operates a flat bed truck to collect refuse in alleys and deposit at the landfill.

• Picks up and dumps refuse containers and trash.

• Collects large items such as tree limbs and deposits on a flat bed truck.

• Cuts or mows weeds and grass to leave streets, alleys and surrounding property in a clean and sanitary condition.

• Utilizes hand tools such as shovels, pitchforks, rakes and small power tools such as saws and mowers.

• Under supervision, operates tractors, trucks and other large equipment with attachments such as mowers, loaders, chippers. Also be able to operate a forklift.

• Washes, paints and services city equipment and machinery; assists with minor repair.

• Will periodically assist other city departments and divisions with moving large or heavy objects and general maintenance.

• Will clean and do the maintenance and vehicle inspections of the vehicle assigned to.

• Will periodically assist in changing oil and flats on the vehicle.

• Refuels assigned vehicle on a daily basis.

• Will periodically assist at the landfill in picking up paper when blown into the fields.

• Will help out in changing out rotten containers as needed.

• Must know the full operation of the rear load polecat system and all safety aspects of the job.

• Assists the driver at the landfill when unloading.

• Will clean behind packer and inside hopper.

• Provides both written and verbal reports on property damage and accidents to superintendent immediately upon occurrence.

• Must use City provided safety wears in accordance as stated in the City of Clovis Safety Manual.

• Will be required to do other assigned duties such as repairs on wooden, chain-link, and cinder block fences as well as sewer clean outs in the alley way.

Job experience demonstrating knowledge of the operation and maintenance of hand and small power tools. Job requires some heavy lifting. Must have or be able to obtain within three months or next available testing date, a valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements. Position requires safety toe footwear.
