Arlington County's Department of Environmental Services has an exciting opportunity to manage one of the Country's most advanced traffic signal and streetlight networks. This ITS Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance and operations of 296 traffic signal intersections and nearly 7,500 County-owned street lights. The County also provides assistance to Dominion Energy's (DE) 13,000 roadway lights located in Arlington County. The employee will supervise the Traffic Signal & Streetlight Field Operations. The current traffic signal and streetlight team consists of two (2) field managers and eight (8) field technicians who work in an organization designed to encourage individual empowerment and team accountability.
Specific duties include:- Planning, scheduling and coordinating signal and streetlight maintenance work and installation projects;
- Establishing and implementing preventive maintenance plans for traffic signals and streetlights;
- Identifying and establishing performance management standards to accurately evaluate the performance of the two programs;
- Identifying and implementing workflows using the County's asset management system, and establishing program tracking and management systems using database tools such as GIS, MS Asset, Cartegraph, etc.;
- Coordinating the work of County-approved contractors for maintenance related activities and managing pre-construction meetings with contractors and providing input to construction planning;
- Evaluating proposed new equipment, and designing and constructing tests of new equipment;
- Developing and implementing a continuing education program to enhance the maintenance skills of all staff within the unit and to keep the staff up to date with current technologies;
- Communicating with internal and external stakeholders and customers following County communication guidelines.
