- Under the direction of the Assistant Dean, the Senior Program Specialist of Workforce Development is responsible for the administration of certificate programs, student recruitment, community partner expansion, vendor relationships, program development and planning, customized training, and facilitating day to day program implementation. The College of Extended Learning has committed itself to taking a lead role in workforce development in the region. The Senior Program Specialist will assist in strengthening existing partnerships, initiating new partnerships, increasing student enrollments, and student success. Additionally, the incumbent is expected to build strong collaborations with academic colleges, across the university and with external partners inclusive of Workforce Development offices, Boards, Employment Development Departments, Department of Rehabilitation, Vocational Rehabilitation vendors, federal and state agencies. The incumbent must be able to attract students to the College's professional development programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants must possess the equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree preferred, and the equivalent to three years of related experience. A record of successful experience in developing and overseeing workforce development programs in higher education is required. Experience in annual budget development, and the negotiation of program arrangements and contracts is required. Applicants must possess demonstrated experience in partnership development with community based organizations, interactions with government, not-for-profit and business organizations. Applicants must possess strong communication skills in socioeconomic and disadvantaged settings. Applicants must possess entrepreneurial spirit, experience and knowledge of self-support continuing education programs. Applicants must possess the ability to work and communicate effectively in a culturally and ethnically diverse community.
