Job Responsibilities

During SCDOT employment, installs, troubleshoots, repairs and maintains traffic signals and flashers including ground and aerial construction. Operates and maintains equipment related to traffic signal construction and maintenance such as digger truck, aerial bucket, cable plow, trencher and concrete saw. Maintains accurate records on all job functions including HMMS, intersection maintenance logs, work logs, Teams and any work related paperwork. Installs and maintains Ethernet equipment and other signal communications equipment. Inspects intersection installations by contractors ensuring all specifications are met. Interprets blueprints for the installation and repair of traffic signals and lighting systems. Helps with any electrical work needed to any SCDOT buildings or sheds.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and four and one-half (4.5) years of related trades experience; or an approved acceptable equivalence in accordance with State Human Resources Regulations.

A valid commercial driver's license (Class A).  Note: This position requires a valid commercial driver's license. However, applicants without a valid commercial driver's license will be considered if no qualified applicants with a valid commercial driver's license are available.

A valid commercial driver's license is required within six (6) months of placement in the position.
