Job Description
This is a professional position responsible for conducting screenings of children, adolescents, adults, and families requesting services from Community Mental Health. Evaluative instruments such as the LOCUS, CAFAS, C-SSRS, and various diagnostic tools are used in the screening process. Makes diagnoses, assesses for risk of harm, determines level of care needed, and makes appropriate referrals.
This is a full-time, benefited position based at the Community Mental Health (Fulton Street) building in Grand Haven, MI. Travel to other county locations and buildings, as needed.Required Education, Training and Experience
Master's degree in social work, psychology, or a related mental health field is required. Two years of relevant professional experience in a mental health agency preferred. Lived experiences with mental illness, developmental disabilities, or substance use disorders are valued.
Additional Requirements and Information
- The qualified candidate will have the following knowledge and skills:
- Thorough working knowledge of DSM 5 and assessment tools such as the LOCUS, CAFAS, C-SSRS, ASAM, and various other instruments.
- Thorough working knowledge of the Michigan Mental Health Code as it pertains to Access Center operations.
- Working knowledge of varied therapeutic interventions, along with knowledge of assessment and interventions for consumers dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse disorders.
- Flexibility in the selection of appropriate interventions for each consumer.
- Good understanding of agency processes, procedures, and quality assurance principles.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Participates with and accepts clinical and administrative supervision.
- Shows willingness to learn and use new skills, and takes regular advantage of internal and external training and staff development opportunities and resources.
- Thorough working knowledge of proper medical record documentation and management.
Must possess or obtain State of Michigan licensure as a Licensed Master's Social Worker, Limited Licensed Master's Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, or Limited Licensed Psychologist. Additional certification as a CAC, CAAC, or equivalent is also required.
