Job Description

Purpose of Position:
Why does the job exist?
This position will be responsible for the IT infrastructure for the 18,000 acre campus, designing and constructing new IT developments to accommodate a growing customer base, and developing/managing an IT capital maintenance plan for numerous high value IT assets that are past end of life.

How does it get done?
The incumbent will be tasked with the following: Manage, schedule, and direct staff working on IT projects; Develop strategic plan for Spaceport America IT that includes operating policies, preventative maintenance, and life cycle replacement plan; Create network engineering solutions for agency needs; Work with Business Development team, to provide IT solutions to customers and generate new revenue streams; Redesign current IT infrastructure and security system from a single customer approach to a multi-customer approach; Identify, design, and install IT solutions to replace IT equipment that is currently at end-of-life; Plan, design, and install IT infrastructure; Identify key risks and agency needs to support new IT investments; Develop Network Operations Center capability internal to the agency to produce cost savings; Establish IT policies, processes, and training for IT assets used by agency staff, and engage in continuous quality improve; Manage relationships with IT-related vendors; Provide regular IT status updates to upper management and board members; Implement IT best practices and IT system requirements.

This role requires interaction with both internal and external stakeholders, including aerospace customers, members of the public, and agency staff members.
 

The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree in computer science, management information systems, information technology, engineering, or similar technical degree and experience in the following areas:

  • Applications Development
  • IT Architecture
  • Data Management
  • Network Administration
  • Project Management
  • IT security/compliance
  • Systems Administration
  • Developing a Strategic Plan
  • Supervising Employees


Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

This position is a pay band IF.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree four (4) years of experience in at least two of the following areas: Applications Development, IT Architecture, Data Management, Network Administration, Project Management, IT Security/Compliance, or Systems Administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling eight (8) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements: 
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's License (may be obtained after employment). Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.

Working Conditions: 
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Overtime may be required, mixed office and outdoor setting, must be able to work in confined spaces, must be able to list 25 lbs., requires extensive walking.
