Utility Billing/Customer Service Specialist

The St. Mary's County Metropolitan Commission has an immediate opening for a Utility Billing/Customer Service Specialist.  The successful applicant will interact with customers to provide and process information in response to various concerns and requests for information.  Perform various duties to support customer billing operations and procedures and all aspects of payment processing; enters meter service orders and follows up with same; in puts charges, calculates and makes adjustments to customer accounts; prepares daily bank deposits to transmit to bank and upload to billing system; reconciles credit card payments.

Must have the ability to act as a representative of St. Mary's County Metropolitan Commission to the public and to provide courteous and knowledgeable customer service; Ability to gain knowledge of relevant rate structures; Ability to effectively communicate with other staff members; Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records, Ability to operate relevant computer systems.  Knowledge of relevant billing and basic accounting principles.   High School diploma or GED; 6 months or more of job-related course work or experience.

High School diploma or GED and one year or more of job-related course work or experience; or equivalent technical training, education, and/or experience.
