Trades Technician I, II, III, or IV (Water Production) - Water Resources

The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources is a publicly-owned utility, committed to providing excellent water, wastewater and stormwater services at the best possible value to the citizens of Gwinnett County.  The department is widely recognized for service excellence in the operation of two water production facilities, three water reclamation facilities and 226 pump stations.  In addition, DWR maintains 3,667 miles of water lines, 2,654 miles of sewer lines and 1,325 miles of storm water pipe.  The Department of Water Resources takes pride in stewardship of the environmental resources entrusted to us and pledge to be responsible as we manage water as a limited, but renewable, resource.

This position is responsible for performing journeyman trades duties. The position will be required to perform inspections and repairs on highly specialized equipment associated with all levels of the water treatment process. Depending on grade level, incumbent will act as a lead worker, directing personnel in the proper repair / replacement of equipment.  This position will be expected to fully predictive (condition based) and precision maintenance technologies, and must be able to trouble-shoot equipment to determine the cause of any problems and make accurate and timely decisions with respect to repairs and/or replacements. 

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in industrial maintenance, a basic understanding electrical safety in an industrial plant, and past experience working with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS):

Trades Technician I - A12(3) - $28,639.00
Trades Technician II - B21(3) - $33,803.00
Trades Technician III – B23(3) - $40,057.00
Trades Technician IV – B31(3) - $43,561.00
 
Minimum Qualifications
Trades Technician I:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.;
• Valid Georgia Driver's License;
• Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained within 12 months of employment.

• High School Diploma or GED;
• Valid Georgia Driver's License;
• Two years of trades experience;
• Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained within 12 months of employment; 
• A Water Distribution System Operator License must be obtained within 12 months of employment
• Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

• High School Diploma or GED;
• Valid Georgia Driver's License;
• Four years of trades experience
• Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained within 12 months of employment; 
• A Water Distribution Systems Operator License must be obtained within 12 months of employment
• Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

• High School Diploma or GED;
• Valid Georgia Driver's License;
• Five years of progressively responsible trades experience, some of which is in a supervisory capacity;
• Class A Commercial Driver's License must be obtained within 12 months of employment; 
• A Water Distribution Systems Operator License must be obtained within 12 months of employment
• Or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
