Food Production Center Supervisor

Under general direction, is responsible for supervising and coordinating the production and packaging of meals in a high production facility; performs related duties as required.

Coordinates production and packaging of meals for all District schools with satellite kitchen facilities;
 
Supervises production manager and packaging managers responsible for ordering, preparing, and requisitioning food and supplies from the Food Service Production Center warehouse and recordkeeping;
 
Informs Food Service Director of status of Food Service Production Center quality assurance and maintenance operations;
 
Recommends staffing levels for production, packaging, cleaning, and maintenance operations at the Food Service Production Center;
 
Secures substitutes, assigns hours, fills vacancies, and completes personnel actions; holds personnel conferences and hearings;
 
Forecasts number of meals to be produced daily;
 
Participates with Food Service Director and supervisory staff in determining USDA commodities to be accepted and end products from commodity processing;
 
Authorizes menu changes due to delivery failure or emergencies;
 
Supervises cleaning and sanitation of Food Service Production Center production and packaging areas and equipment; monitors compliance with sanitation and hygiene policies;
 
Manages inventory of the Food Service Production Center warehouse and periodically conducts audits to ensure accuracy of inventory;
 
Monitors reports of condition of products and supplies received at the Food Service Production Center;
 
Promotes integrity of hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) plan to assure proper temperature and handling of food products;
 
Monitors time accounting system reports on attendance, extra service, and overtime of employees;
 
Reports on status of equipment repair work in the Food Service Production Center;
 
Communicates with Supervisors and Dietician regarding menu changes, acceptability of meals, and proper handling and heating of meals in schools with satellite kitchen facilities;
 
Coordinates regarding temperature and sanitation of delivery trucks and meal count adjustments;
Monitors compliance of personnel with sanitation and hygiene policies, packaging areas, and equipment;
 
Determines microbiological testing parameters for food products and meals sent to an independent laboratory;
 
Reviews and interprets independent laboratory microbiological test reports on food, supplies, meals, and swab tests on equipment;
 
Recommends quality assurance standards to be included in bid packages and product specifications;
 
Evaluates personnel under his/her supervision annually;
 
Investigates causes of Food Service Production Center accidents and implements corrective action as needed.
 

Three (3) years of managerial experience in a food packaging facility, or in a full-service food service kitchen.
 
Possession of valid Level II State of Ohio Food Protection Certification.
 
Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
