About Us

Essential Functions

Conducts technical and complex and research activities involving the synthesis and isolation of purified organic molecules; prepares new and known ionic liquids as required; collates, analyzes and prepares data for publication; performs various transformations to include Williamson ether synthesis, Diels-Alder, catalytic hydrogenation and fluorometric assays; prepares reports of research findings using MS Office software; prepares and presents presentations using MS Power Point; analyzes and records research findings in a notebook and using a PC; utilizes a variety of lab equipment to include gas chromatograph, liquid chromatograph, nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, infrared spectrometers, tandem GC/mass spectrometer, and other related instruments; follows appropriate safety procedures for handling highly toxic substances; maintains laboratory in an orderly manner; assists with the planning of experimental protocols and may adapt new techniques; supervises students to include assigning duties and checking work; orders laboratory equipment and supplies; regular and prompt attendance; ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required; related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a physical or natural science from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama. 

Working Days and Hours

Monday - Friday
10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. 

Part-time position ~ 20 hours per week (.50 FTE)
