Class Summary
Salary will be based on qualifications and experience. The Grade for this position is for Grade C44 (1).
Department and Division Information: The Department of Information Technology Services consists of four Divisions: Enterprise Applications/Development, Infrastructure/Operations, Financial Management Office/Admin and Business Strategic Services. The Enterprise Applications/Development Division has the overall responsibility for the development, maintenance and support of the core business systems supporting Gwinnett County Government.
Position Responsibilities:- Ensure 24/7 availability on the various systems.
- Ability to analyze a problem and develop a solution.
- Provide on-call support during non-business hours.
- Possess investigative skills and effective organizational skills.
- Ability to make decisions based on facts.
- Self-motivated, resourcefulness, and ability to work with limited direction.

- Provide hands-on system administration support, system maintenance and operations support.
- Build, configure, and troubleshoot software and hardware enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure up-grades.
- Perform OS installation, troubleshooting, patching and maintenance including the evaluation of products along with upgrades for appropriateness
- Oversee and implement system upgrade strategies
- Participate in performance tuning and capacity planning activities. Developing strategies around these activities including monitoring and analysis of findings
- Interact regularly and successfully with business partners, customers, peers, management, as well as vendors
- Demonstrate ability to capture knowledge and document it using organized methodologies
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Develop and maintain documentation about current environment setup, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
- Manage end user accounts, permissions, access rights, and storage allocations in accordance with best practices
- Perform and test routine system backups and restores.
- Practice hardware asset management, including maintenance of system component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information..
- Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field and three years of progressively responsible, professional level analyst and systems experience in a large scale Information Technology environment; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
- Ability to provide basic VM, SAN, Systems, Storage and backup administration support for daily operations.
- Experience with installation, upgrades, tuning and troubleshooting CommVault agents/clients and CommVault server side scheduling.
- Troubleshoot technical problems with the critical systems, servers, and equipment within a 24/7/365 Data Center environment, handling the more complex and critical problems and responding to system emergencies as required.
