Description
Coordinates the Lifeguard rescue operations at the public pools and performs Lifeguard duties as needed. Supervises and conducts training sessions in First Aid, CPR, AED, Oxygen Administration and Rescue skills. Insures Emergency Action Plans are in effect. Directs all aquatic programming, maintenance and repair of circulation/filtration/sanitation systems, and ancillary facilities. Maintains and monitors pool facilities, equipment and water quality. Oversees the safe-keeping and accounting of revenues received from the operations of the facility. Prepares work schedules and other statistical reports. Responsible for the direction and evaluation of employees deployed at the pools. Promotes and provides assistance implementing public recreational events, programs, and activities in the department and throughout the City. Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service. Performs other duties as required.
Typical Qualifications
Bachelors' degree in Recreation or closely related field. Three (3) years of professional recreation experience, which must have included one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience. Strong experience in recreation program development and facility management. Current certifications in Lifeguard Training, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Oxygen Administration, Preventing Disease Transmission, at time of hire. Valid Florida driver's license. During probationary period, must obtain a WSI and a Pool/Spa Operator certification. Must obtain a Lifeguard Training Instructor certification within two years of hire. Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) preferred. Ability to supervise staff and maintain effective work relationships with the public served. Knowledge of marketing strategies and securing sponsorships and advertising monies for departmental programs and events. Knowledge of Word, Excel; HTE Financial Software and Rec Trac preferred. Experience and knowledge of local, county, state, federal pool operations. Experience with computer programs. Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both orally and in writing to individuals and groups. Ability to plan, organize, assign and supervise the work of subordinates in a manner conducive to high morale and effective activities. Sedentary work to extreme labor-intensive work based on rescue situations. Must pass required swim test. Physical abilities include running, swimming, walking, pulling, pushing, climbing, carrying and lifting. Specific abilities include hearing, talking and seeing. Outside work under all weather conditions. A comparable amount of training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
Supplemental Information
Work Days/Hours : 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; five days, includes weekends/holidays
