Description
- Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to provide support for creating, editing, maintaining and utilizing GIS data layers for the City's GIS system. Employees in this position will perform related work as required and/or directed.
Examples of Duties
- Compiles, verifies and inputs information into multiple GIS databases.
- Utilizes GIS software to prepare data, graphics, maps and photographs for inclusion in the City's GIS system.
- Utilizes GIS software to map data, including scanning and geo-referencing images; digitizing features.
- Researches databases and other materials; provides information to engineers, consultants, contractors, and public.
- Performs maintenance activities on multiple GIS databases.
- Performs field GPS surveys utilizing a Trimble GPS Handheld collector.
- Prepares technical reports as required and/or directed.
- Performs related duties as directed.
Minimum Training and Experience
- Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Processing, Geography, Engineering or a closely related field. Must be proficient in using all ESRI ArcMap components. Must have at least (5) years of work experience in the GIS field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

- While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.
