Class Description
- Are you passionate about wellness programs? Do you have the ability to lead campaigns in a diverse work environment? Do you have experience with Tobacco Cessation programs? If so, we are anxious to talk to you about the Wellness Coordinator- Tobacco Cessation vacancy within the City of Baltimore Department of Human Resources.
Responsibilities include:- Conduct training and workshops on wellness initiatives with a focus on tobacco cessation.
- Serve as the tobacco cessation expert and main point of contact for the tobacco cessation campaign. Manage all tobacco cessation inquiries for DHR, and Key Stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively to build and develop a plan for the introduction and sustainment of wellness initiatives with a focus on tobacco screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment.
- Provide oversight of all tobacco cessation resources, deliverables, marketing strategies materials and talking points for tobacco cessation. Manage the inventory, distribution, and replenishment of promotional items/giveaway's including purchasing, paying invoices and tracking materials.
- Participate in and evaluate wellness initiatives including the City's "It's Cooler to Crush It" Campaign. Conceptualize and coordinate weekly events and track program participation.
- Prepare wellness policy briefs, conduct policy research and prepare written reports.
- Supervise and manage the performers who wear the Tobacco Cessation mascot costumes. Chaperone the characters at events throughout the City of Baltimore.
Minimum Qualifications
Competencies & Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in public health or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience with two years of experience in Health, Wellness or Tobacco prevention and control.
Experience working in program coordination or management. Knowledge of social media promotion and internet research techniques. Excellent written and verbal communication skill with the ability to prepare reports, presentations, correspondence, articles and other materials.
Strong motivator with the ability to learn and train others on how to do the "Smokey Crush" line dance. Demonstrated ability to provide individual and group counseling sessions for all audiences; and to create and maintain relationships across diverse populations.
