Physical Therapist I: $5,145.83 - $6,582.33
Physical Therapist II: $5,442.67- $6,963.67
Physical Therapist III: $6,380.83- $8,161.83

The Fresno County Department of Public Health has an excellent career opportunity available for the position of Physical Therapist I/II/III. If you are a licensed Physical Therapist interested in working as part of the Medical Therapy Program within California Children's Services, we encourage you to apply. The California Children's Services Medical Therapy Program provides physical therapy, occupational therapy and medical therapy conference services for children who have handicapping conditions, generally due to neurological or musculoskeletal disorders.
Physical Therapists are responsible for planning and performing physical therapy for neurologically and physically impaired clients at California Children's Services Medical Therapy Unit sites, which are located in local public schools. Incumbents are primarily responsible for providing rehabilitative therapy focused on gross motor activities to clients who are physically or neurologically impaired by illness, injury, or genetic impairment. Incumbents may assist clients by developing or improving physical skills; restoring muscle function; maintaining maximum performance within the client's capabilities; and improving the level of self-care and productivity.
Please note: The eligible list established from this recruitment may be used to fill both extra-help and permanently allocated positions. Individuals selected for extra-help appointment may be transitioned to a permanently allocated position at a later date as authorized by the Fresno County Personnel Rules.
Positions in this classification are in Medical Group III - Heavy Physical Activity (Personnel Rule 8). This group includes positions which require heavy physical effort using arms, legs, back and trunk in frequent lifting, pushing, or pulling objects weighing (or offering resistance equivalent to) over 25 pounds. Generally, considerable bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, reaching, as well as standing and walking are involved. Physical stamina is usually required and explosive strength using bursts of energy may be required, depending upon specific position assignments.

Physical Therapist I
License: Possession of a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Physical Therapy Board of California.
Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.
Physical Therapist II
Experience: One (1) year of full-time, paid work experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist.
License: Possession of a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Physical Therapy Board of California.

Physical Therapist III
Experience: Two (2) years of full-time, paid work experience as a Licensed Physical Therapist.
License: Possession of a valid license as a Physical Therapist issued by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Physical Therapy Board of California.

SELECTION PROCESS:
Depending upon the number of applicants meeting the minimum qualifications and filing requirements, applicants may be scheduled for the process listed below:- Oral Examination - An oral examination includes a panel consisting of at least two members within a similar field of expertise as the vacancy. Candidates are asked structured questions and must respond orally to allow the panel to evaluate the specific qualifications of each applicant.
Successful candidates will be placed on an employment list, effective for a minimum of 3 months (which may be extended for an additional 12 months) and will be certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
