Definition
This is a full-time, entry-level, protective service worker position with the City's Public Works Department. An individual in this position will enforce animal control regulations and ordinances for the City.
Examples of Work
Patrols the City for stray animals; enforce animal control ordinances; respond to calls for services; handle complaints; impound animals; trap and capture animals, as necessary; write citations and warnings; rescue injured animals; and communicate with the community;
Supports shelter operations by cleaning the facility; feed and water animals;conduct euthanasia and disposal functions; process adoptions; maintain records; stock supplies; provide information to the public; and quarantine potentially rabid animals;
Conducts investigations by following up on bite cases; file animal cruelty cases with proper prosecuting agencies; follow-up on complaints; communicate with the public and various veterinarian clinics; write reports; and testify in court;
Perform other related duties as assigned;
Subject to 24-hour recallEducation, Experience, or Certification
High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate are required. Must be able to obtain an Euthanasia Certification within 6 months of employment. No experience required
