Overview

Employment Status:  Full-time, probationary "exempt" position.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (during Summer term Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm), and as needed; considerable international travel is required.

Department Information:
In support of the strategic plans adopted by the CSU system and by California State University, San Bernardino, the Center for International Studies and Programs (CISP) leads the campus' globalization process by collaborating with university and off-campus partners to develop and promote activities, programs, and services that meet the international needs of our university, regional, national, and global communities.

Position Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of International Admissions and Student Services, the incumbent recruits international students and provides coordination and support for international student recruitment related activities for CSUSB. The incumbent will play an active role in the international student recruitment to help meet the international student enrollment goals. Additionally, this position will be responsible for developing and updating international recruitment materials including creating and expanding international social media channels. The incumbent will be expected to travel independently and extensively overseas recruiting international students and developing partnerships by attending international student recruitment fairs, visiting agents, and providing training and updates to partners.

Typical Activities

Responsibilities include:

  • Communicate timely and accurately with agents and prospective students (via email, telephone, social media, and via webinars) about CSUSB programs, timelines, and admissions requirements.
  • Travel internationally to recruit international students.
  • Participate in international education fairs and marketing outreach activities; organize meetings with partner universities, agents and advising centers, and organize recruitment seminars to promote CSUSB and its programs internationally.
  • Engage in approved social media to ensure CSUSB promotion internationally.
  • Coordinate recruitment schedules for campus representatives who travel abroad for recruitment.
  • Conduct presentations on CSUSB to prospective students, university partners, and agents.
  • Assist in development of annual recruitment plan.
  • Monitor recruitment travel and expenditures to create reports. Calculate ROI from targeted outreach events; provide creative and cost-effective ideas to increase innovation in recruitment strategies.
  • Responsible for international student marketing and communication plan related to recruitment.
  • Develop and update international student recruitment materials.
  • Work collaboratively with departments and staff to identify programs of interest to international student; develop relationships with faculty and staff in the graduate programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Three years of international student recruitment experience
  • Experience in processing university admissions
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and conducting presentations
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and present ideas and concepts verbally and in writing to culturally diverse audiences
  • Experience in interpreting and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, as well as experience developing policies and procedures
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support recruitment and program development and implementation
  • Ability to work additional hours, occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special programs
  • Fingerprinting is a requirement of this position
  • Excellent project management skills; demonstrated ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast–paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a team
  • High energy and passion for recruiting
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Experience in living, working, or studying abroad for three months or longer
  • Experience in working for an international education department
  • Experience in serving as Designated School Official (DSO)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in language(s) other than English

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU.
