- The City of Claremont Human Services Department is looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, customer service oriented individual with excellent public relation skills to assist with a variety of assignments associated with the Alexander Hughes Community Center front counter, including contract classes.
The Alexander Hughes Community Center is the "Hub" of community recreation and information for all ages. The Hughes Community Center offers over 80 contract classes in arts and crafts, cooking, dance, fitness and special interest. The Human Services Leader will provide a variety of specialized and responsible clerical and receptionist duties for the front counter at the Hughes Center and set up and tear down of facility rentals. Front counter duties include answering phone calls and taking messages, having direct contact with the public, handling cash, and program registration. While tearing down facilities rentals, the Human Services Leader will include moving tables and chairs, and setting up audio visual equipment.
The Hughes Center is open 8:00 am – 9:00 pm Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am – 6:00 pm Fridays, and 8:00 am – 2:00 pm Saturdays. The Human Services Leader position is part-time, and depending upon position, can require up to 25 hours per week of work. The Human Services Leader will work special events and some weekends for Youth Programs. All staff is required to work Special Events including 4th of July, Holiday Promenade, Halloween Spooktacular, and Spring Celebration. In addition Human Service Leaders may be called upon to work for other program areas within the Human Services Department. Ideal Candidate
- Education and Experience:
Qualified applicants will have completed the 10th grade and must provide a work permit if under age 18. Experience working with the public and basic computer experience is required. Bi-lingual skills and a valid Class C California driver's license and have a good driving record are highly desirable. CPR and First Aid certification is required within six month of appointment.
