The Metropolitan Council Environmental Services Department is seeking to fill two (2) Assistant Business Unit Manager, Planning and Scheduling positions.

The HARD-WORKING INDIVIDUALS WE NEED FOR OUR TEAM WILL BE: Responsible for managing the planning, scheduling, and prioritization of maintenance and repair activities for MCES Wastewater Treatment plants. He/she will assist with day to day supervision of maintenance activities, staff, contractors and assist in development and capital planning.Priority will be given to those who apply on or before May 15, 2018. Hiring Salary Range: $76, 586 -$86, 923
Full Salary Range: $76, 586- $108, 638

What you would do in this job:
- Prepares job plans and scopes for maintenance projects and activities. Identifies key tasks, procedures, materials and safety measures critical to completion of these projects and activities.
- Schedules preventive and corrective maintenance activities. Identifies maintenance, repair, modification or replacement needs.
- Plans for outside contracted maintenance projects and activities that need to be contracted; selects contractors appropriate to the job required; supervises the work of contract personnel attending to assigned projects.
- Prepares purchase requisitions, requests for quotations, sole source documents and contract initiation memos to support maintenance projects and activities; serves as Project Manager for assigned projects.
- Facilitates planning meetings to discuss the upgrading and/or replacement of mechanical and electrical systems and equipment and establish work priorities and scheduling requirements.
- Acts as principal contact and liaison between Maintenance, Operations and other departments served by Maintenance.
What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications):
- Two (2) year certification in Mechanics or closely related field AND a total of seven (7) years of experience which must include the following:
- Performing heavy industrial equipment repair (servicing, maintaining, and installing pumps, compressors, generators, turbines, conveyor systems, mechanical drives, hydraulic systems, etc. and machining, fabrication, and welding) and
- Two (2) years planning, scheduling, and/or work estimation experience and,
- Two (2) years in a lead or supervisory role.
ORHigh School Diploma or equivalency AND nine (9) years of experience which must include the following:- Performing heavy industrial equipment repair (servicing, maintaining, and installing pumps, compressors, generators, turbines, conveyor systems, mechanical drives, hydraulic systems, etc. and machining, fabrication, and welding) and
- Two (2) years planning, scheduling, and/or work estimation experience and,
- Two (2) years in a lead or supervisory role.
What knowledge, skills and abilities you should have within the first six months on the job:- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mechanical concepts. Including preventative & predictive maintenance techniques.
- Knowledge of OSHA rules and regulations.
- Intermediate skills for Microsoft Word and Excel, internet, electronic calendar and CMMS.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical drawings and procedures, and government regulations.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of customers or clients.
- Requires the skill and persuasion in dealings with others both inside and outside of the department.
- Interactions with others generally require influencing, instructing and negotiating with individuals to gain their understanding, cooperation and action. Interactions may involve efforts to persuade and negotiate with other representatives or officials outside of the organization, but does not have the authority to act on behalf of the organization in matters where there are legitimate differences of opinion.

Work Environment: Position works in an office environment and industrial plant. Ability to work non-standard hours, be required to change scheduled days off and assignments on short notice. Some travel to other facilities is required. Up to one third of the time this position works near moving parts or equipment, exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions and moderate noise.Physical Requirements: Regularly required to sit for long periods, stand/walk occasionally, speak, hear normal conversation and telephone ring tones, operate a computer and other office equipment, must have adequate close vision for reading and computer work.
