Class Summary

The Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources is a publicly-owned utility, committed to providing excellent water, wastewater and stormwater services at the best possible value to the citizens of Gwinnett County.  The department is widely recognized for service excellence in the operation of 2 water production facilities, 3 water reclamation facilities and 226 pump stations.  In addition, DWR maintains 3,667 miles of water lines, 2,654 miles of sewer lines and 1,325 miles of stormwater pipe.  The Department of Water Resources takes pride in stewardship of the environmental resources entrusted to us and pledge to be responsible as we manage water as a limited, but renewable, resource.

This position will be responsible for the project management and coordination of water, wastewater, and pumping station design projects.  The responsibilities include an understanding of water and wastewater treatment processes, design project execution from conceptual design through construction, understanding of design drawings and technical specifications for technical and constructability review, and project milestone scheduling. The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel and ability to learn and use Microsoft Project. Candidate must have excellent communication (writing and speaking) skills and technical engineering skills with particular emphasis on civil and environmental engineering. 

This position is a grade C451. 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering;
  • Two years of progressively responsible engineering experience;
  • Five years' experience in water and wastewater treatment design, and / or water booster and wastewater collection pump station design preferred;
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Engineer-in-Training (EIT) License preferred (must be obtained within 18 months of hire).
