Description of Job

This position is a temporary entry-level position in CDOT's Motor Pool, located at CDOT's Headquarters.
 
Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in cleaning the shop by emptying trash, sweeping floors, and using a floor scrubber;
  • Safely and proficiently drive vehicles for maintenance and wash to third part vendor;
  • Check vehicles for cleanliness and damage;
  • Maintain full fuel level in vehicles;
  • Maintain full electrical charge on PHEV and EV vehicles;
  • Clear snow from vehicles when needed;
  • Professionally interact with customers to assist in their transportation needs;
  • Utilize a computer Key Kiosk to vehicle "rentals";
  • Assist with inputting and maintaining updated vehicle information in kiosk system;
  • Other job duties as assigned.
 
Work Environment:
  • Exposure to load noise
  • Exposure to fumes, odors, gasses, dusts, etc. that may affect breathing, eyes and skin
  • Required to use appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Required to work with chemicals and cleaning products
  • Required to drive CDOT vehicles
  • Exposure to High Voltage (anything over 600 V) and electrical shock
  • Must be willing and be physically able to work in extreme temperatures (hot and cold), variable weather conditions
  • Required to use computers to accomplish everyday work duties
  • The average work week is 40 hours a week, with periodic overtime due to emergencies or inclement weather
  • Travel throughout the Metro area when needed
  • Must be able to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • A current valid Colorado Driver's License is required for this position.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  The following conditions must be met and maintained in order to be employed and/or continue employment at CDOT in this position, unless exempted by the Maintenance Superintendent.    
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver's License;
  • May be required to pass a controlled substance test (i.e., drug test);
  • CDOT Headquarters will move to 2829 W. Howard Pl., Denver CO, 80204.
