Position Summary:
The purpose of this position is to provide technical assistance, support, and solutions of the City's computer systems and related technologies. The incumbent selected for this position will report to the Chief Information Officer. This position may also receive technical and functional direction from other administrative or professional personnel.
Position Scope:
The IT Technician will provide timely and quality service and support to all City personnel and departments as it relates to information technology issues. This position will analyze technical problems, implement solutions, train end-users, document incidents, and perform other tasks to support City personnel.
The incumbent will be required to interact courteously with management and co-workers, and promote and represent the City to the public in a friendly, helpful, and professional manner.

- Provide routine technical guidance and timely problem resolution
- Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, and equipment
- Perform routine maintenance on computer systems
- Provide technical assistance to end users in accordance with applicable information systems policies, procedures, methods, and techniques
- Assist with administration and management of City data networks and servers
- Research problem reports and requests for systems enhancements
- Perform Active directory administration
- Create and manage computer images
- Perform testing and evaluation of various technologies
- Assist with backup, restore, and data/server replication
- Assist with special projects or other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Skills in providing excellent customer service and technical support to end users.
- Ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks.
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems and products.
- Knowledge of server operating systems, various software applications, and advanced server hardware.
- Ability to understand, create, and maintain technical documentation.
- Ability to communicate on technical issues with individuals with varying degrees of computer familiarity; translate user requests into technical recommendations; exercise initiative developing and applying effective operating procedures applicable to information systems and office automation programs.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, vendors, and the general public.
- Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
- Ability to work at different times as required and work overtime when required.
Minimum Requirements
Required Education & Experience:
- Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or a closely related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of professional level experience in computer systems operations or support position
- Performing personal computer or information systems analysis and design preferred.
- Knowledge of computer systems topology, cabling, and connectivity preferred.
Licenses and/or Certifications:
- A+ certification (or equivalent) preferred
- Network+ certification (or equivalent) preferred
- Valid state of Florida Class E driver's license required; equivalent acceptable for hiring but State of Florida license must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
- FDLE CJIS certification must be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
