Purpose
This position is responsible for the coordination of maintenance activities associates with the department's fleet.
Essential Job Functions
Schedules and coordinates the maintenance of department vehicles.
Maintains information and follows up on vehicles in the shop; coordinate with user divisions when vehicles are ready for pickup
Monitors and reports on fleet status (i.e., downtime, maintenance costs, availability)
Maintains a fleet data management system
Compiles and manage list of vehicles and equipment
Completes work orders.
Maintains records of vehicle use, maintenance, and repairs. Schedules malfunctioning vehicles for repair.
Develops and reviews for accuracy specifications for new vehicles and equipment. Coordinates preventive maintenance schedules with vehicle maintenance staff. Monitors, logs, and reports accidents.
Inspects vehicles; oversees pre- and post-trip inspections. Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; with two years of medium or heavy equipment operation
including one year fleet/motor pool maintenance management work experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Must possess' a valid Class B commercial driver's license.
Additional RequirementsBackground investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen; a motor vehicle report will be conducted, and driving history must meet the standards outlined by the City of Savannah; and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment. The final score on this examination will consist of a rating of education and experience, plus veterans' preference points, if eligible. The names of all competitors rated eligible for appointment will be placed on the proper register according to their final scores.Additional Information
