Job Responsibilities
The Institute for Families in Society (IFS) at USC was established in the early 1990s through the interdisciplinary efforts of a task force commissioned by the University of South Carolina. The Division of Integrated Health & Policy Research (IHPR) is an interdisciplinary, applied research team within the IFS that conducts research and policy analysis on health and family issues that affect South Carolina and the nation. The Division is one of 27 University-based Research Centers and Institutes in the nation partnering with State Medicaid Agencies and has been continuously funded by a variety of contracts and grants for over 20 years. While positions are posted as grant-funded, they are intended to be continuous for as long as contract and grant funding is sustained.
Research Associate/ Healthcare Data Analyst is responsible for working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to handle complex data projects. This position works with large-complex data files and provides analytic support for research and reporting using administrative claims, provider, member, clinical, quality measure, and pharmacy data.
This position works within a SAS environment utilizing the latest software and analytic tools including SQL, SAS-Visual Analytics, and other third-party software products that enhance analytic capacity (e.g., HEDIS, AHRQ PQI, etc.).
Two positions available.Minimum and Additional Requirements
Ability to learn quickly new analytic tools in a changing healthcare environment. Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, project leader, and co-workers both orally and in writing. Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA rules and regulations. Ability to organize, plan and prioritize assignments within multiple projects. Able to work with minimal direction and be flexible when rapid or extensive changes are needed. Advanced knowledge of data management, SAS, SQL, and other business intelligence tools necessary to work with big data projects.
Master Degree in a related field and 3+ years of statistical analysis or data analysis experience or related data processing experience, including data warehouse, coding or ETL experience.
