Aurora Water
Aurora Water is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage systems, treatment of drinking water and non-potable reclaimed wastewater for irrigation, billing and collection, public outreach and water conservation, acquisition and development of future water rights, major capital projects programs, and quality control for regulatory compliance and public health.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Assists work crews in the repair and maintenance of water, wastewater, reuse, and storm drain pump stations, water storage tanks, and treatment pumping facilities
- Performs routine maintenance in potable water, raw water, and wastewater pumping facilities
- Loads and unloads tools
- Maintains facilities equipment
- Performs routine building maintenance and inspections
- Performs grounds maintenance
- Required to participate in confined space entries at whatever capacities assigned
- Required to be in the rotation for standby call for assigned facilities
- Will assist with snow removal activities and snow standby call duties
- Basic knowledge of the city computer systems; and performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A STATE ISSUED MOTOR VEHICLE RECORD MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH YOUR APPLICATION IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED.
Experience: At least 1 year of related maintenance experience. Experience with mechanical machinery and/or water/wastewater utility preferred.
Knowledge: Knowledge of mechanical maintenance and repair methods. Basic computer knowledge.
Abilities:- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions
- Ability to operate or receive training on various types of maintenance equipment
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds repetitively
- Ability to work shifts, nights, overtime, standby, and call back duty
- Must be able to wear protective equipment required for the job and able to meet requirements under the Aurora Water Respiratory Protection Program
Skills: Mechanical. Skill in the use of personal computers and related software.
Licenses, Certificates, or Equipment Required:- Driver's license with a good driving history
- Motor Vehicle Record MUST be submitted with the application and MUST be a State issued MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) ***No third party agencies accepted***
- Current Commercial Driver's License or ability to obtain a Colorado Commercial Driver's License within 6 months of hire date. Class I Collection/Distribution preferred
- This position may require the incumbent to occasionally use personal equipment (e.g. vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.

Working Conditions
Physical Demands: Moderate to heavy physical work depending upon assigned function; may require ability to lift a maximum of 50 pounds; may require frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds; considerable walking and standing; frequently performs activities requiring a full range of body movement including bending, stooping, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and climbing; hand/eye and hand/foot coordination for operation of equipment and vehicles; vision for reading gauges and written instructions; hearing/listening for instructions and warning signals.
Work Environment: Works indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to noise, dust, and fumes. Some work may be performed in confined spaces, will be exposed to low and medium electrical voltage.
Equipment Used: Operates mechanical equipment and vehicles common to utilities maintenance functions.
