Description
- Paratransit Dispatcher (CSS II)Hours: Approximately 20 Hours Per Week; hours may vary as required by serviceWages: $12.00 - $13.00 per hourStatus: Temporary Part Time

Examples of Duties
- Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
- Answering a multi-line phone, responding to and returning phone calls in a courteous and professional manner.
- Scheduling customer requests and negotiating pick up times for a shared ride service.
- Recording customer information, customer requests and driver statistics.
- Efficiently routing drivers using a two-way radio within paratransit service area.
- Basic understanding of computer use, including Microsoft Office programs.
- Ability to read and understand various maps.
- Adhere to and understand city policies and procedures.
- Ability to follow city procedures in the event of an emergency.
- Drive a 9 passenger bus adhering to the California Vehicle Code and to time schedules and route assignments.
- Provide safe and courteous origin to destination transportation which includes assisting customers on and off the bus.
- Operates the wheelchair lift when necessary to board and disembark customers while complying with policies regarding the securing of customers using mobility equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
- Because of the special licensing requirements of this position applicants must meet the following standards:
- Must have no more than one point against their license and no moving violations in the past year.
- Attach your current DMV printout with this application.
- Pre-employment drug testing; once employed, the employee is subject to random drug testing.
- Must possess a current class C California Driver's License for at least one year.
- Must be at least 18 years of age & education equivalent to completion of twelfth grade.
- Must have at least one year of driving experience.
General Information: The service operates 365 days a year; availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a mandatory requirement. As public servants, all staff are emergency on-call personnel. Knowledge of safe driving procedures and the ability to interact with a wide variety of people are key components of this position.
Physical/Sensory Requirements:
This position will require the ability to sit in front of a computer for varying durations of time, type at a computer workstation, answer a phone while multitasking, use a pen a paper to document information, and possess verbal and hearing skills to effectively communicate with customers and other staff and make observations.
In the event one needs to drive, one may need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, stand, walk up and down stairs, lift and/or move objects up to 20 lbs, perform simple and power grasping, pushing, pulling, and equipment securement.
Work is done both indoors and out, with exposure to various weather conditions.
