Purpose of Announcement

EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO SUPPLEMENT THE EXISTING EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT WEST JEFFERSON VACANCY & ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY BOTH IN THE DEPARTMENT OF JEFFERSON COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM - HEAD START.

This employment list will also be used for FUTURE East & West Jefferson vacancies in the Department of Jeff CAP - Head Start. 

Kind of Work

Under general supervision, the primary role of this position is the recruitment, enrollment, attendance and engagement of the families of children in our program through services, practices, support and activities. Incumbent of this position will be required to perform professional and administrative work.  Employee is also responsible for coordinating the needs of families with other community organizations which promotes family self-sufficiency.   Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference. 

Minimum Qualifications For Admission to Examination

Must meet ONE of the following:

1. Possession of an accredited Master's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral science.
OR
2. Possession of an accredited Bachelor's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral science; PLUS, at least two (2) years of experience in the counseling of families and individuals on social service programs.
OR
3. Possession of an accredited Associate's degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Work, or a related behavioral science; PLUS, at least four (4) years of experience in the counseling of families and individuals on social service programs.
Preferred: Possession of the Basic Family Services Credential from the National Head Start Association (NHSA).

Proof of education is required and must be submitted at the time of application or immediately thereafter.

NOTE: Any conviction listed in the Louisiana Child Protection Act (LA R.S. 15:587.1) is considered disqualifying, unless written proof of pardon is submitted in time for consideration with the application.

The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing. Applicants must supply complete and accurate information concerning their training and experience including a detailed description of their work experience, the names and addresses of all previous employers and the dates of employment.
