Carpentry Technician II

The Facilities Management Division provides responsive and cost-effective services in the arenas of construction, operations, maintenance, and repair of County facilities.  Our vision is to remain one of the premier public facilities management operations in the region, with services provided in a sustained manner at the highest standards of quality and efficiency.  The division is innovative and forward thinking and is a leader in the County's environmental sustainability efforts, constructing three LEED certified facilities, undertaking major energy conservation and management initiatives, and helping the County obtain a Bronze Certificate in the Atlanta Regional Commission's Green Communities Program.

The division provides services to more than 200 buildings comprising over 2.5 million square feet of space.   Services include housekeeping, landscaping maintenance, facilities planning and construction, and comprehensive building maintenance inclusive of carpentry and finishes, electrical power, and lighting, HVAC systems, plumbing, and security and life safety systems.   In addition to managing the design and construction of the County's buildings for general government, public safety, and libraries, the division plans and implements a five year Capital Maintenance Plan with an average annual budget of approximately $5 million.  The division has 51 full-time employees and an annual Operating Budget of $8.3 million.

This class is responsible for performing specialized trades duties and assisting in the training of new employees.  This job is a safety sensitive position that will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace.
