Temporary Highway Construction Technician I - Norfolk and Surrounding Areas

Not all cities/towns within District 3 are hiring temporary employees. Applicants need to call the District Office in Norfolk at 402-370-3470 to see which cities/towns within District 3 are accepting applications. Summer positions, temporary, until about November 30, 2018. Hours may depend on weather, may be more or less than 40 hours per week. Starting and ending dates at different intervals. Applicants who possess the required agency qualifications may be hired at the Highway Construction Technician II level ($16.554/hour) upon review/verification of documentation, etc.

Successful applicants will be under immediate supervision and trained to perform standard tests on construction material and inspections in routine phases of construction projects, and/or to participate as a member of a survey crew. Perform other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED: Coursework, training, and/or experience in construction surveying, materials testing, or inspections practices, and in using associated instruments and equipment. Basic computer experience.
 

OTHER: Regular and reliable attendance is also required.

Basic math skills. Must have the ability to lift up to 100 pounds, climb, bend, stoop, walk long distances and work in outdoor temperature extrements. Must be able to work overtime as needed.
