Overview
THIS WORK MATTERS!
This is an on-call position that will work up to 20 hours per week.
WIC is a program focusing on nutrition education, breastfeeding support, health and diet screening, growth monitoring, and program referrals as well as providing monthly food benefits for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children up to 5 years of age. WIC serves families from many different cultural and ethnic traditions, languages, backgrounds and abilities. It is designed to promote positive health outcomes, strengthen life course nutrition and health, and reduce health disparities in the populations we serve.
As the WIC Nutrition Assistant you will:- Complete the WIC Certification process which includes enrollment, health screening, growth monitoring, diet screening, nutrition focused counseling, goal setting, food benefit issuance, and follow up planning
- Promote breastfeeding and provide education and support around lactation
- Facilitate group classes, help connect participants with programs and services in the community, and participate in community outreach activities

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:- High school diploma or equivalent
- One year of experience dealing with the public in a health-related field preferred
- Bilingual Somali/English
