Game and Parks Temporary Park Worker III

Individuals will plan, coordinate, present and evaluate a wide variety of environmental education, historical education and outdoor skills programs to a range of audiences. Will transport materials to the area where programs are presented. These programs may include: outdoor skills (fishing, etc.), natural history (bird watching, insects, mammals, etc.), other sciences (amateur astronomy, geology, and paleontology), guide hikes, night programs and others. Assist with special events (such as Outdoor Discovery Program, Anniversary Celebrations, etc), field trips for area schools, wildlife/habitat management and customer service activities. Perform related work as required.

REQUIREMENTS:  One year of experience working in a recreational area, scenic attraction or historical setting, or related coursework/training or experience.

PREFERRED: experience or education in outdoor activities described above plus some teaching experience and/or experience developing educational programs. Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license.

Knowledge of education principles and practices and the ability to present information to a variety of audiences. Basic knowledge of and strong interest in topics described above. Excellent communication/teaching skills are needed for this position. Applicant must have a willingness to learn about the natural history of area parks and environments. Must have a strong desire to share this knowledge with the public through interpretive and educational programming.
