Definition
This is a mid-level, professional staff, full-time position in the City's Parks & Recreation Department. An individual in this position will administer special programs for the Department, including but not limited to fitness & wellness classes, summer camp programs, after school & Kid Zone programs, and designated special events in the Missouri City Recreation & Tennis Center and Missouri City Community Center.
Examples of Work
Assist with the selection, training, supervision and overall evaluation of part-time employees in the department;
May supervise evening staff and be responsible for assigned facility during set hours;
Develop, deliver, manage and evaluate individual and group fitness and wellness programs in the department; provide personal training to individuals; develop programs such as "Fun Runs," blood drives, etc...
Design fitness programs & initiatives associated with the City's Employee Wellness Program;
Develop summer programs and events, including the Department's eight (8) week Summer Day Camp program, and develop lesson plans, determine staff selections and evaluations.
Manage the Kid Zone and after school Program at the Recreation & Tennis Center;
Manages program budgets, procure program essential items, equipment and may approve timesheets;
May serve on various Citywide committees as assigned or requested;
Assist with the overall coordination of Departmental or City special events and/or activities as directed;
May work non-traditional work hours, depending on Departmental and program needs, including nights & weekends;
Perform other related duties as assigned;
Be subject to 24-hour recall.Education, Experience, or Certification
A Bachelor's Degree in a related field, from an accredited college or university and a minimum of three years related professional experience required.
