Description
- Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to oversee City Swimming Pool operations and supervise water safety and training staff. Employees in this classification perform supervisory and administrative work. Position is responsible for directing pool operations, supervising staff, and maintaining a safe, pleasant environment. Performs related work as directed
Examples of Duties
- Oversees daily operations of City Swimming Pool; ensures facility is opened on time and is ready for pool patrons.
- Performs supervisory functions such as scheduling, training, assigning work, setting standards, reviewing work, counseling, and disciplining.
- Supervises and performs Lifeguard duties; enforces facility rules and regulations; insures safety of pool patrons; takes immediate action in case of accident or injury.
- Develops and implements a variety of aquatic programs for children and adults.
- Supervises a variety of pool related tasks such as checking pool water chemistry, cleaning pool, cleaning around pool, and maintaining related equipment.
- Supervises minor maintenance tasks such as cleaning office, maintaining bathrooms and picking up trash.
- Meets and greets pool patrons; answers questions and maintains friendly, pleasing environment.
- Attends meetings and training classes to maintain or upgrade skills and certifications; schedules and/or conducts training for staff.
- Prepares annual budget; monitors and controls expenditures to adhere to budget; maintains inventories of pool supplies, equipment and materials; orders replenishments as required.
- Prepares logs and records documenting activities and events associated with pool operations.
Minimum Training and Experience
- High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in Business, Sports and Leisure, Water Safety or related fields and one (1) year previous experience and/or training involving Swimming Pool operations and staff supervision; or three (3) years previous experience and/or training involving Swimming Pool operations and staff supervision; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Special Requirements- CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard, and WSI certified
- Valid Florida Driver's License
Marginal Functions
- While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.
Picks-up supplies and equipment.
Performs related duties as directed.
