Position Summary

Looking for a dynamic individual who enjoys interacting with the public while promoting the historical significance and the natural environments at the Historical Park.

The 30-acre Historical Park traces the proud history of Farmers Branch, from the 1840s through the 1940s.
 
The purpose of this position is to provide part-time staff support at the Historical Park including weekends and special events.
 
The City of Farmers Branch will conduct ongoing screenings of applications on a first come, first serve basis. As soon as we determine to have a qualified pool of applicants, this position may close quickly and without notice after a three business day minimum posting.

 

Essential Job Functions

Provides general staff support including answering phones, working with reservations, greeting guests, giving tours, and general administrative support.  Opens and securely closes the Historical Park.

Performs general cleaning services including Historical Park structures, restrooms, park grounds, and litter control.  
 
Assists with special events, programs and rentals.  Conducts safety inspections and reports issues.

Education and Experience

Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature that may be obtained with two years of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency.

Computer skills desired or the ability to learn Microsoft Office and Active Network.

One year customer service experience desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

This position normally performs the duty assignment after receiving general instructions as to methods, procedures, and desired end results. Must be able to prioritize assignments while working independently at times. Assignments are usually reviewed upon completion. 
 
Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement. Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.            
           
Work requires the use of standard technical skills appropriate to the work environment of the organization.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
May be subject to "on call" outside of normal working hours.
           
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Valid Class C Texas driver's license with good driving record and ability to maintain while employed.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work involves exposure to disagreeable elements and noise. Involves continuous outdoor work with frequent exposure to poor weather conditions. Physical demands include frequent lifting of heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Sits, stands, or walks for long periods of time. Works around and may be exposed to dust and chemicals.
