Overview

Employment Status:  Full-time, probationary "exempt" position.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (during Summer term Monday through Thursday 7:00 am to 5:30 pm), and as needed; considerable international travel is required.

Salary: Salary is commensurate with experience.

In support of the CSUSB Strategic Plan, the Center for International Studies and Programs (CISP) leads the campus' globalization process by collaborating with university and off-campus partners to develop and promote activities, programs, and services that meet the international needs of our university, regional, national, and global communities.

Typical Activities

Under general supervision of CISP Director, the incumbent will perform the following job duties:

  • Provide administrative and program leadership in all aspects of partnership programs with China and other countries. Work is guided by the overall goals and objectives with full accountability for results and requires regular planning, development, independent determination of methods to meet programmatic or administrative goals, as well as independent determination  of  approaches to project  and priorities. 
  • Ensure timely program management and communicates independently with partnership university representatives, and organizations such as the China Center for International Economic Exchanges (CCIEE), and American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU).
  • Maintain program correspondence, document processing, recruitment timelines, and program assessment and improvement.
  • Independently evaluate, analyze, and take course of action on prospective partnerships and coordinates negotiations with universities and represents CSUSB in events, conferences, and seminars.
  • Utilize working relationships with extended networks of organization and university representatives to advance CSUSB's enrollment growth.
  • Ensure strong relationships with existing partners and for development of new university partners to support revenue growth per CSUSB strategic goals. 
  • Serve as the main CSUSB representative for China and provides expert advice to campus on China related opportunities.
  • Perform all other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training in a related field.
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in the field of international education administration.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate and present ideas and concepts verbally and in writing to culturally diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally to support recruitment and program development and implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in the development of policies and procedures related to issues that might not be covered by existing policies and procedures, as well as assessing, formulating, and evaluating the impact of recommended or implemented policies from a strategic and operational perspective.
  • Ability to apply appreciable ingenuity and innovation to conceive of new approaches and solutions to address complex problems and issues.
  • Experience with budgets, personnel management, and administration.
Preferred Qualifications:.
  • Master's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with national level organizations.
  • Fluency, written and spoken, in Chinese (Mandarin).
  • Demonstrated experience in working with Chinese universities.
  • Experience in developing and designing programs for student populations.
  • Experience in international outreach and recruitment.
  • Working knowledge of culture, government, and education in countries outside the U.S.A.
  • Experience and expertise in risk management for both in-bound and out-bound students; with demonstrated experience with best practices in risk management.
  • Ability to work additional hours, occasional holidays, and adjust working hours to meet special programs.
