Description
Work of this position involves infrastructure construction for private development projects to ensure that construction methods and materials meet governmental regulations and standards. Related duties include assisting in resolving citizens complaints regarding development activities and other engineering support duties may be performed as assigned.
Examples of Duties
Establishes construction inspection schedules for residential and commercial development projects; inspects clearing, grading, sub-grade and base work, pipe laying, asphalt or concrete and/or paving procedures on development projects; monitors compliance of development projects to the County's development policies and subdivision regulations; requests and reviews results of core tests for paving depth inspections; coordinates with Code Enforcement Officers or with Civil Engineer's in regards to misdemeanor citations for grading, sediment control or construction violations; conducts on-site review of citizen complaints regarding water drainage, sediment erosion problems and recommends resolutions; assists customers with questions or concerns; performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from High School or GED equivalent.
One year of experience performing related work in nature.
Possession of a valid Georgia driver's license.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.Knowledge, Skill, Abilities/ Supplemental Information
- Knowledge of the techniques, principles and procedures related to road and infrastructure construction; knowledge of applicable State, County and Department policies, standards and procedures regarding infrastructure construction for subdivisions and commercial developments; skill in interpreting field survey data and in the use of survey instruments; skill in reading road design drawings, engineering plans and specifications; skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with department employees, developers, contractors and utility representatives; ability to demonstrate effective oral and written communications.
