Class Description

This is a Non Civil Service position
 
The City of Baltimore's Department of Human Resources (DHR) is seeking an experienced Grant Writer who will report to the Director & Chief Human Capital Officer and work closely with the DHR senior leadership team to identify grant resources and monitor the preparation of grant applications.  This is the perfect position for a talented, high-energy individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants the challenge – and the many personal rewards – of working in an innovative, diverse, performance management and mission-driven organization.  
 

Selection Process

The City of Baltimore is seeking a part-time Grant Writer to specifically write proposals for the upcoming WorkBaltimore 2018 initiative.   Candidate will be responsible for completing eligibility questionnaires for prospective funding organizations; writing/preparation of grant proposals; follow-through after submissions; responding to post application inquiries; and preparing the respective reporting information.   The Writer will be required for completing all reports relative to initiative results.
This position will:
The selected candidate will have a proven track record in grant writing or program development.  This is not an inclusive list.   This position may require related duties not listed, if necessary, to accomplish the work of the Agency.
  • Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Distribute grant proposal applications to Executive leadership; and monitor status of applications.
  • Review applications for content, form and adherence to funding source guidelines; edit proposals; and ensure application package is complete before submission.
  • Monitor grant reviews, evaluations, modifications and renewals.
  • Maintain central repository of all grant proposal activity.
  • Possess proficiency in researching, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data and possess the ability to collaboratively and independently reach stated goals.  
  • The initial sorting through the various funding organizations has been conducted; however, previous experience will demonstrate a proven track record in securing new funding, comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify funding opportunities for new initiatives.   

Minimum Qualifications

Education:  Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Project management or related field.
 
Experience:  Proven experience in writing grant proposals and evidence of awarded grants is expected. 
 
Knowledge of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management preferred.
 
Licenses, Registrations and Certifications: Not applicable.  

However, a professional resume and writing sample is required for consideration in this role.
