Description
Work for the City of Laguna Beach this Summer in the City's parking lots! Assist visitors and the coordination of parking operations.
Qualified applicants will be at least 14 years of age and available to work weekday and weekend evening hours during the period of mid-June through early September. Parking Lot Attendants work up to 40 hours per week which includes, at times, working late evenings until 11:00 p.m. (those 16 & over). If hired, some Parking Lot Attendants may be asked to say on past the Summer season to assist with special event parking activities.
Applications will continue to be accepted on a continuous basis and interviews scheduled until all positions are filled. Apply early to receive consideration first!
2018 Important Dates:- Official Start of Summer Season: June 25
- Season Officially Concludes: September 2
Candidates selected for hire who are under the age of 18 must have a work permit (see link below). A work permit is not necessary to interview for the position.
All prospective Parking Lot Attendants must successfully pass a police background check and a fingerprint check with the State Department of Justice.
The appointing authority will further review the job related qualifications of those deemed eligible for hire before making selection decisions.Examples of Duties
Directs cars to appropriate parking spaces, collects fees, computes change, and keeps parking lots clean. This position also provides general City information as needed to the public regarding festivals, bus routes, restaurants, and shops. Employees in this position maintain effective, cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, including the general public.
Incumbents must be available to work weekday and weekend evening hours during the period of mid-June through early September. Incumbents work up to 40 hours per week which includes, at times, working late evenings until 11:00 p.m. (for those 16 & over).Minimum Qualifications
- Strong public contact work experience is desirable, but not required.
- Must be at least 14 years of age
- Valid work permit (if under 18 years of age)
Supplemental Information
Knowledge of: general office procedures and equipment operation.
Ability to: accurately count money and calculate change; safely and efficiently direct motorists to park their cars in confined spaces; safely lift and carry equipment needed to set up daily operations; work cooperatively and effectively with those contacted in the performance of duties; follow oral instructions and adhere to procedures and safe work practices Skills: Must possess effective communication skills to provide information clearly and concisely regarding festivals, bus routes, restaurants, shops and other related information; employees in this position must be able to see and hear in normal range with or without correction, and communicate verbally and in writing.
