Basic Functions
Responsible for the administration of wellness and leaves initiatives using best practices in preventive health. Creates wellness programs for the organization that promote awareness, motivation and provides tools to help employees adapt and maintain a well-rounded healthy lifestyle. Responsible for the oversight of METRO's Leave of Absence programs and primary liaison with third party administrators (TPA) ensuring contractual compliance with program guidelines and requirements. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties
- Develops, formulates, plans, and implements wellness programs, events, and presentations based on identified wellness initiatives and goals. Evaluate wellness and leave programs, initiatives, goals and related metrics. Develops enhancements/changes as needed.
- Works cross functionally within the organization to organize and coordinate wellness initiatives to promote employee engagement.
- Develops communication material for Wellness, Employee Assistance Programs (EAP), events, and presentations. Designs and presents programs; oversees scheduling of events and selects outside speakers/presenters for various wellness programs. Manages the implementation of wellness related activities such as health screenings, lunch and learn seminars, bloodmobile, flu-shots, fitness classes, etc. Conducts management and supervisory training
- Provides guidance and direction to Leave and Wellness staff to enhance productivity and ensure necessary outcomes are achieved.
- Reviews contractual documentation to ensure compliance with policies and procedures prior to authorizing payments to third party administrators/vendors. Coordinates the resolution of complex issues with Director.
- Manages the return to work process to include fit for duty physicals, drug screenings, and ADA accommodations.
- Develops and review policies related to leaves and wellness to ensure accuracy and compliance. Analyzes effectiveness of Wellness & Leaves programs in terms of return on investment (ROI) and associated measures of participation.
- Compiles quarterly Wellness and leaves cost analysis and metrics. Provides director with analysis, findings and recommendations.
- Evaluates internal and external wellness program data, identifies trends and potential issues. Develops surveys, job aids and reporting tools for the Wellness and leave of absence program. Provides recommendations to ensure continuous improvement and success of the Wellness Program.
- Oversees METRO's employee recognition awards program.
- Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/ Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Health, Kinesiology, Nutrition or related discipline is required.
Minimum five (5) years of professional experience in Wellness administration including experience with leaves of absence programs and processing/analysis of contractual payments.
Strong customer service skills; excellent communication (written/verbal) skills. Excellent presentation, administrative and organizational skills. Working knowledge of FMLA/LOA regulations/administration. Good analysis skills and general working knowledge of computers and related software (Microsoft Office Suite with proficient Excel skills). Professional HR/Benefits Certification (CBP, CEBS, S/PHR, SHRM S/CP) desirable.
