Part-Time Lifeguard/WSI Swimming Instructor(s)

Hours vary and may include days, evenings, weekends, holidays and split shifts.  Must have ability to administer first aid and CPR.  Will observe and provide for user safety at municipal swimming pool facilities through lifeguarding; explaining and enforcing rules; providing swimming instruction; administering first aid and CPR.  May assist with maintaining facilities; cashiering, keeping accurate records; maintaining a clean/safe facility, and other assignments.  High priority placed on dependability, responsibility and ability to interact well with all ages in a public workplace setting.  Must be able to pass criminal background check.

1. Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years old.  Previous lifeguard and/or swimming instructor experience preferred.
2. First aid and CPR certification required.
3. Clean criminal record check is mandatory.
4. Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification, Red Cross lifeguard training/certification or equivalent required for lifeguard related positions as determined by the City. 
5. Applicants must possess a wide variety of swimming and diving skills; possess sufficient strength, agility, hearing and vision to perform the duties of a Lifeguard and/or Swimming Instructor.
6. Interpersonal relationship skills and ability to relate to students, parents, and staff using tact, courtesy, particularly with respect to students.
7. Knowledge of and ability to follow regulations and safety guidelines.
8. Good oral and written communication skills.
